whirling
hearts in despair
twirling
wounds unrepaired
furling

dipping and dashing
in ashes
and gashes
rip through our veins
in chaos
it slashes
no one gets crowned
or adorned with sashes
for being the one
who lives through most crashes

conundrums
the problems come
we want to run
but the pain beats like drums
pounding in ears
and body quakes
our heads, they ache
is this place a mistake
or are we being set free
from the lies we built

Stumped! – an illusion of resolution
a sticks and stones conclusion

Do you want dissolution?
gnawing tics are the talks
There’s no “dear” here, there, or anywhere
No “babe” to spare
But it’s fair
I do always shout
When you run your mouth.

My knowing tricked
You pick- 
Do we stop and talk?
Chaotic infusion
–the clock ticks and tocks--

The boat traversed
raging seas;
conquered islands,
revived bees,
discovered gold,
built homes from trees-- 
yes, it’s conquered
many seas.

But what was it for
every conquest? -
If the anchor falls
bottomless
and the sail remains
motionless?

– Memory and questions;
they all compressed! –

The sea beneath--
I must confess;
felt vast and small
once you left-- 
the sea– it raged
the boat remained
my fear splattered 
uncontained.


Suspended,

      Breathless, 

            Incomplete...

It was ME
that once glided
 on the sea
and conquered life 
willingly.

When my breath escaped
My eyes could see–
YOU 
were the WIND–

There's a chasm in the depths of me
where the ground parted between our feet
you stayed and I was hurled into the sea
to drown in my own memory
when I try again to access it
the chasm grips me relentlessly

Who are you, the one I search for,
that calls me from the deep;
from someplace I once tarried
where now my soul does weep?

Do you know the cruelty of longing
for something you can't see?-- 
Not even in your mind's eye
while you plead for memory?

I know the chasm was your doing
and now you want me home
you've watched me seventy-times-seven times get buried
and suffer far too long
my love, you know I forgive you
 and I'd do it all again
if I knew this chasm would finally
within infinity see an end.

Until that day comes though, 
you reach me as you can--
so, I sit and wait beside the sea
and try to remember my long lost friend. 

"Seventy times seven" in Matthew 18:22 symbolizes limitless forgiveness, calling believers to forgive others repeatedly without keeping count.

Dear Friends, There’s a lot in this one and I want to help you see the layers from which this was received and written, shared with you. Love, Shadow Whimsy, Steph.

In early Jewish myth (especially in 1 Enoch, 2 Esdras, and later Midrash), Leviathan and Behemoth were:

• created at the same moment,

• as a matched pair,

• meant to coexist,

• one ruling the sea,

• one ruling the land.

  
  They were cosmic counterparts not enemies or threats.

The oldest layer of the lore says the pair was too powerful together, so they were forcibly divided:

• Behemoth was chained to the land, often described as a desert or a distant mountain.

• Leviathan was cast into the deep ocean, the primordial waters (Tehom).

They were never allowed to meet again.

Some versions even describe:

• Leviathan mourning in the deep

• Behemoth raging on the earth

• the world itself trembling because they are apart

This is a similar archetypal essence as the following:

• Tiamat and Apsu

• Shiva and Shakti in separation

• Orpheus and Eurydice

• Sky Father and Earth Mother pulled apart

The poem is meant to honor this version of the story that we hear of Leviathan and Behemoth. It’s a reminder that everything is a matter of perspective. That from this vantage point, it’s not the one claiming the title of shepherd that’s the hero, but a deceiver. The cloak references a biblical passage about evil being cloaked in false light. The shepherd in this story comes cloaked in light but his cloak is a leaching leash, feasting on the powerful lovers’ separation. There is more symbolism in the piece to multi-categorical references, but I hope this information helps you understand the depth of this piece.

You lied.

You left.

I lay
on the cold floor
watching paper
collect my tears...

                   Scratching symbols
                   into dead trees
                   with led;
                   calling them words
                   but no one hears. 

I lay on dead trees
watching dead trees
receive my symbols and tears.

The trees 
hold my body,
absorb my tears,
receive my words. 

In forms of wood floors, paper, pencil they are not but dead, they resurrect. 

I remember I am not alone.
